Blackbaud has started to use Admin System Messages for what can only be deemed "Marketing." I'm thinking specifically of the recent message to use Visa Checkout and not so long ago, the announcement of Luminate Beta. These announcements went to all admins without regard of their role or access level to the system. Not all admins are appropriate recipients of these messages. Just as all admins are not authorized to contact Blackbaud Support, Blackbaud Marketing and Product Management should not be blindly contacting our admins.
With a Admin System Message permission type, we could select which admin groups should receive which type of message. I am imagining permission levels such as:
* View system error and alerts only
* View errors, alerts, and marketing
As the System Messaging use matures, other permission levels could be added so that Orgs could take better control of new feature roll outs and avoid issues of curious admins trying to follow unfamiliar steps and breaking something along the way.
See Support Case #673749 and #664069 for more info.

Got it, thanks for the feedback. I'll pass this along.

Hi Ken,
Happy to see a familiar face! All is well on this end, hoping the same for you!
You nailed it - the lightbox on the AdminHomePage at login that offers the option to dismiss.
I think the announcements are great, they definitely communication good things that decision makers may be looking past on other channels. In a perfect world, they would be exposed only to the 1-3 support contacts most orgs have, and be filtered based on the feature set of a particular instance. But getting at that kind of rich data in real-time is a very high bar and still may miss some realities of System Admin vs Role in Org, so I think security permissions are the better way to go. It gives Blackbaud the ability to still get messages in front of "plug and play" organizations while respecting the admin hierarchy of those orgs who take the time to create custom admin roles to somewhat mirror real-world business roles. (didn't want to sound like I was complaining about the notices themselves - they are valuable in the right hands!)
Take care,
Glen
Hey Glen, understood and I'll pass this along the PM owning our notifications. To clarify, my assumption is you are referring to the lightbox you see when logging into LOCG and not Luminate Beta notifications? I am assuming the control would apply to both however the main one you are worried about right now is for current gen, right?
Thanks, hope all is well.
Ken
