There is a way to add an "additional donation" field on the ticket form, which we use to allow users to donate instead of attending. Because the form doesn't allow you to not purchase a ticket, we end up having to add a zero cost ticket that someone has to "buy" before they can donate - a clumsy workaround. It would be better if ticket purchases were not mandatory if the "additional donation" box were checked.
