Allow us to designate which RE appeals sync to LO

We have run into a problem in which we have more than 500+ active appeals in RE, so not all appeals are syncing to LO.  We were told that the only solution is to keep less than 500 active  appeals in RE.  This is frustrating because we really do need to keep appeals active for a long time.  We do a lot of multichannel marketing and we have a long tail for donations, so it's hard to inactivate very many appeals.  (And yes, we do use packages.  We're not abusing the Appeal field; we use it rather sparingly and put all our segments in the package field.)  It would be  great if we could designate that only a certain category of appeals sync to LO (say, "Digital" appeals only) so that we don't have LO full of appeals that we would never use for donation forms.

Afternoon folks! Wanted to provide a quick update on this. Although we're not shipping the exact solution that this idea is asking for, we are shipping an enhancement that will solve this problem. In the May 16th RELO release, we're enhancing the "Options" UI in the RELO plugin to allow for the adjustment of the maximum number of campaigns and appeals that can be referenced in Luminate. So similarly to how you can increase the limit of funds from 500 to 10,000, you'll be able to increase the limit for campaigns and appeals from 500 to 10,000. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Correct, based on what you said in this thread, we increased the funds limit to 10,000 and that allowed all our appeals to sync over as well. It was working fine until last week. We have 633 active appeals, and I assure you we haven't added 133 since last week (we've added about 5 in that span).

Hello Rebecca! I'm so sorry you're having trouble with this again. From what I'm reading here, it sounds like you were able to increase the limit last year, and that increase governed campaigns, funds and appeals, even though the documentation only implies the limit applies to funds only. Is that correct?

Follow up to this. We had followed the instructions here and it worked wonderfully for us for the last year. Now suddenly the appeals are no longer syncing to Luminate. Below is the response I received from Support. We had been over the 500 appeal level ever since this original conversation, but now suddenly we're being held to it again?  For direct response organizations, this limit of 500 active appeals is nearly impossible. I would love to talk to someone in more detail about how frustrating and crippling this is. But right now I have to go try to find 150 appeals that I can deactivate.

Original Subject: How long should it take for appeals in RE to sync to LO?

    Hi Rebecca,

There is a hard limit on the number of appeals that can sync from RE to LO. That limit is 500. It cannot be increased. Only active appeals will sync from RE to LO. The only solution to this problem would be to deactivate any appeals that are not currently in use. Once the number of active appeals is equal to or lesser than 500 the appeals that have not synced will display for cross referencing in Luminate Online.

OK, thanks for the clarification.  I've updated the limit and assume that'll be fine.  I won't know for sure until we have some new pages to cross reference but let you know if we have any trouble!

I'll have our technical writers adjust the content to reflect that the limit controls campaigns, funds and appeals. From the Raiser's Edge, open the Luminate Online plug in. Click on the Options button, and you'll see where you can change the limit. Let me know if you have any more questions. I would also like to hear that you're in a good state after you update the limit. I want to make sure this solved your problem!

    Thanks,

    Brent

That link indicates that the number of funds allowed can be increased but doesn't say anything about appeals.  Has the number of appeals also been increased as well?  And where would I go to increase that limit?

Thanks for the great idea. At this time, we can't commit to your specific request to designate only certain categories of appeals to sync to Luminate Online. I can solve your problem another way however. With the last release of the RELO plugin on May 8th, we shipped the capability to change the limit of appeals that can be pulled into the Luminate Online cross referencing process. Previously, it was set at 500, and that limit governed all of our hosted clients. With the recent change, you can change the limit to meet your specific needs. Here's a link to the new feature documentation:

    Thanks!
