When an event participant secures a monthly donor for the 2026 event and later registers for the 2027 event, we need to redirect the soft credit for future recurring gift instalments to the participant’s 2027 fundraising page.

Currently, changing the soft credit on the recurring gift record also reassigns all previously processed instalments from the 2026 event to the 2027 event. This incorrectly alters historical fundraising records and totals.

The desired functionality is the ability to update the soft credit designation for future instalments only, while preserving the soft credit associated with all previously processed payments.

Without this option, organizations must cancel the donor’s existing recurring gift and ask them to create a new one for the following event year. This creates unnecessary administrative work, disrupts the donor experience, and increases the risk of losing the recurring donor altogether.
