Ability to delete or reassign Groups from all Group Types

If I map a RE query to an LO Group and assign that Group to Group Type = Email Target Group, I cannot delete the group or change the assignment to a different Group Type. When I assign a Group to Group Type = RE, this problem does not exist. In case we decided to stop using the Group that I just created, I would like to be able to delete any Group or reassign any Group to different Group Type.
