Allow TeamRaiser participant to register twice for same event

TeamRaiser should allow participants to register twice for the same event. Currently in LO, the participant who attempts to register twice receives an error message that says they already are registered for that event. Some participants intentionally wish to register twice. To work around the product restriction the participant creates a duplicate account. Later, if the duplicate is detected and then merged, the duplicate TeamRaiser registration is deleted and cannot be restored.  Instead, the product should warn a participant of an existing registration but then should allow the participant to proceed with a second registration.

Has there been any resolution or fix on this? I have just run into the same issue with TeamRaiser for our DIY program

I agree with others on this. There are times when we need the same person to become a captain on more than one team within the same event.

Got it, thank you both for your use cases, this is really helpful!

We have seen the following use cases:

    1. Participant wants to both be on a family team and a corporate team. The funds they raise from coworkers go to the corporate team their job expects them to participate on. Funds raised from their friends and family go to their family team they are doing in honor of someone with Type 1.

    2. Corporate team captains want to register on each of their company's teams (since you cannot attirbute a walker to a captain, companies have to create many teams. Some captains  want to register for all of these teams so they get emails from the captain.

    3. We now use TeamRaisers for DIY. A participant holds a memorial campaign and then wants to participate in an athletic event.  Or they do a memorial campaign and then someone else passes and they wnat to do another memorial campaign.

    4. We use a single teamraiser per chapter per fiscal year to manage our Kids Walk fundraising. The principal wants to create 5 teams, one for each grade in her school. The principal can only register once and we have to make up fake names to create the other 4 teams.

    5. Similar to #4, a school nurse wants to participate in the Kids Walk. She is the nurse for three different schools, and therefore needs to create three separate teams. She can only register on one, then we have to make fake names for her to create the other two school teams.

    Summary:

Kids Walk needs nurses/superintendents to be able to register on more than one school/team in a TeamRaiser. Personal campaigns should be able to allow a participant to hold more than one campaign.

Currently, have to manipulate the record as a workaround. This goes into your CRM and creates dupes and is not a good data management practice. We close teamraisers and create new ones, just to allow people to register again. This creates a lot of work and forces us to end people's campaigns when we create the new teamraisers.

Hi Ken, we have TeamRaiser participants who register for a personal team and also for a company team for the same TR event.

    Hi Alan,

Can you walk me through why some participants want to register twice? I'm not sure I follow how they can participate in one event twice but I'm sure there is a strong reason they are wanting to do it so I'd like to better understand their goals.

    Thank you!
