It would be great to have a batch entry system like the one in Kintera Sphere in LO. In Sphere FAF, you search the contact records for donors and simply select the record to enter their donation. The same goes for entering registrations. You can set default fields, allocate several donors to one participant, and, if not already a constiuent, donor can be added. Records are then commited and event and perosnal records are updated. You end up with a completed Batch Sheet with batch ID for deposit.
