For folks looking to apply to host a new event, the event date field allows a user to select a year in the 1920's to 2035. The event date will most likely be in the next year or so, but even a window of about 5 years would be less overwhelming. By providing so many options, it can be a bit overwhelming for the user and cause confusion as to what information we are looking for.
