Although it's easy to test RSVP-only forms for Calendar Events, when there is a paid ticket involved, it's not possible to test the form with a pretend credit card (such as is available in the Donation Management module). We've often run up against issues that could have been found and resolved before making a form available to our constituents if such a testing mechanism were available.
